The Uvena Conflict was the battle that launched the Great Territorial War, a conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Third Sith Empire. Shortly before the conflict began, the then-new Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic, Stavan Jetzt, called a delegation of members of the Jedi Order to his office. Based on reports he was given, Jetzt relayed that he believed a flow of weapons to the Uvena system indicated the reemergence of the Sith. While the Jedi were skeptical of the claim, they decided to send Jedi Knights Ussej Padric Bac and Damien Nightblade to investigate.[1]
After the two Jedi arrived, the Uvena Conflict began between the planets Uvena Prime and Uvena III. By the conflict's end, the two Jedi followed the trail of weapons to Korriban, the capital of the Third Sith Empire, where they discovered that the Sith orchestrated the conflict in order to gain the weapons for themselves. Bac and Nightblade were able to escape, albeit barely, and return to Coruscant, the capital of the Republic, where Jetzt declared war on the Sith. This act sent the galaxy into war, beginning the Great Territorial War.[1]
