"The dark side had a hold on me, and I was too arrogant to see it for myself."
―Sarina Lightell recounts the events leading up to the Conclave on Ossus[src]

Sarina Lightell was a female Human/Sephi hybrid who held the rank of Jedi Master in the Jedi Order during the Alsakan Crisis; she went on to create the Ospion Guardians. Sarina, born in 13,050 BBY, was taken into the Jedi Order as a child and rose through the ranks to become a Jedi Master. She became a recognized and well-regarded Jedi in the galaxy by taking an active role in galactic affairs. She married Jedi Master Edo Tesu during this time.

In 13,000 BBY, in the midst of the Alsakan Crisis, Grand Master Banik Kelrada called a convocation of Jedi on Ossus to discuss the bombing of the Jedi Enclave by the Alsakan Union. Unknowingly, Lightell manipulated Kelrada into attacking Tesu, causing the Jedi to question the Grand Master’s judgment. Sarina murdered Tesu later that night and implicated Kelrada, allowing her to rally hundreds of Jedi behind her. She went on to form the Ospion Guardians, the forerunners of the Dark Jedi of the Bogan. Sarina disappeared shortly thereafter, beginning a pilgrimage throughout the galaxy for nearly twenty years.

Sarina returned to the Jedi Order in 12,979 BBY, during the Hutt War, to seek redemption. Following her release from Jedi custody, she continued to seek forgiveness, but she was captured by an agent of Kelrada, who had exiled himself from the Jedi Order and turned to the dark side of the Force. A duel ensued between Sarina and Banik when she was brought before him, and Sarina was killed. Banik kept her body to use against the Jedi later.
