"…and where they look at you and see the death of the Force, I look at you and see hope for all life."
Mical Tironis[src]

Meetra Surik was a female Human Jedi who fought under Revan during the Mandalorian Wars, against the orders of the Jedi High Council. She became a Jedi Knight during the conflict, as well as a General in the Galactic Republic Military. Surik played a vital role in ending the war during the Battle of Malachor V, but her actions led her to severing her connection to the Force. When Revan and the rest of his followers disappeared into the Unknown Regions, where they turned to the dark side, Surik returned to face the judgment of the Jedi Council. The Council exiled her, and she became known as the Jedi Exile.

In the years that followed, Surik was caught up in the aftermath of the Jedi Civil War. After locating the Lost Jedi, she helped defeat the Sith Triumvirate of Darth Nihilus, Darth Sion, and Darth Traya, during which time she restored her connection to the Force. With the Triumvirate defeated, she set out in search of Revan, who was redeemed at the end of the Jedi Civil War and left for the Unknown Regions to search for the True Sith Empire.

When Surik found Revan, she joined him in seeking to kill the Sith Emperor, who had secretly been planning to invade the Republic since the Great Hyperspace War. They joined Lord Scourge, who also sought to kill the Emperor, but Scourge betrayed them and killed Surik. Surik's death allowed Revan delay the Emperor's plot to invade the Republic; rather than becoming one with the Force, she became a spirit who helped Revan, who was imprisoned in stasis by the Emperor, resist the Emperor's powers and even encourage the Emperor to seek a diplomatic road with the Republic. The Emperor finally unleashed his invasion, however, and Surik's ghost contacted Jedi Master Oteg to free Revan from stasis. Once the task was completed and she told Revan to destroy the Emperor, Surik disappeared.

Surik's legacy lived on after her death. The companions she traveled with while fighting against the Sith Triumvirate helped rebuild the Jedi Order, which helped prepare the Jedi and the Republic for the Emperor's eventual invasion.

Behind the scenes[]

Meetra Surik was created as the central character in the video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, where she is the character that the player of the game plays as.[1] The cliffhanger events of the game, as well as Surik's fate, are resolved in the book Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan by Drew Karpyshyn.[2] She briefly appears in the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic as a Force spirit aiding Revan.[3]

Despite being a canon character, Surik is also a character in the Alternative Star Wars Saga, as the three aforementioned works are considered part of the Alternative Saga by its authors.[4]
