|Chronological and political information|
Banik Kelrada was born on Coruscant in 13,045 BBY and was taken into the Jedi Order at a young age. As a Jedi Padawan, he and his master were captured by slavers and held as slaves in the Outer Rim Territories. He returned to the Order after his escape, becoming a Jedi Knight.
In the years that followed, Banik was promoted to Jedi Master and became the head of the Coruscant Jedi Council, giving him a seat on the Jedi High Council. Shortly before the Alsakan Crisis, Banik became the Grandmaster of the Order. He attempted to broker a peace between the Galactic Republic and the Alsakan Union when the war broke out, but the Alsakan Vicar Lharra was assassinated by her own aides on Ossus before she could tell her people she agreed to end the war. In the Jedi conclave that followed, Banik's thoughts were manipulated by Jedi Knight Sarina Lightell, causing him to lash out and attack Master Edo Tesu and label him a traitor. Banik fled Ossus and the Order after Tesu was found dead the next day, as Banik was implicated in the murder.
Banik spent the two decades that followed searching for Lightell and the Ospion Guardians, which were created as a direct result of the conclave. He became a rogue Dark Jedi during this time, lusting to seek revenge against those that caused him to leave the Order. In 12,979 BBY, during the Hutt War, Banik successfully captured and murdered Lightell before attempting to form an alliance with the Dark Jedi of the Bogan.
